How to get a student loan forgiveness:
Affordable borrowers may receive an entire or partial dissolution of loans of up to $20,000. You could qualify for relief from the debt if you hold an eligible federal loan and you meet the following requirements for income:
1- Did not file taxes: Made less than the required income to file federal taxes
2- Single: Under $125,000
3- Married, filed your taxes separately: Under $125,000
4- Married, filed your taxes jointly: Under $250,000
5- Head of household: Under $250,000
6- Qualifying widow(er): Under $250,000
How to apply for student loan forgiveness?
This Student Loan Debt Relief Application is available online as well as in paper format (downloadable through the PDF) and in English in both Spanish.
Both paper and online PDF applications comply to Section 508 under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 which was amended in order in order to provide access to people who are disabled.

How Much Debt Relief You Can Get?
1- You can receive up to $20,000 in relief from debts if you got the Federal Pell Grant in college and you meet the requirements for income
2- You can receive up to $10,000 in relief from the debt if you did not get the Federal Pell Grant in college and you meet the income requirements.
3- The debt relief only applies to loans that you had prior to June 30, 2022. Loans that were issued between July 1 and June 1, 2022, aren’t eligible for relief from debt. There are other rules that apply to consolidation loans.
Which Loans Are Eligible for forgiveness?
The following federal student loans that were disbursed (when you were able to receive your loan money) up to July 30, 2022, are eligible for relief.
1- William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program loans
2- Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program loans are held through ED or under default with an agency for guaranty
3- Federal Perkins Loan Program loans made by ED
4- Loans that are defaulted (includes commercially-serviced or ED-held Subsidized Stafford and unsubsidized Stafford and parents PLUS or Graduate PLUS and Perkins loans owned by ED)
What happens after you apply for forgiveness?
1. After you submit your Student Loan Debt Relief Application, you’ll receive an email confirmation. Your StudentAid.gov account won’t show the status of your application.
2. Once you submit your application, They’ll review it to confirm you’re eligible for debt relief.
3. If They don’t have enough information on file to confirm your eligibility, They’ll email you with instructions.
Now Student Loan Debt Relief Is Blocked
Judges issued orders that block the student debt relief programs. This means that currently, we’re not accepting applications. We’re seeking to revoke the orders.
